Confession: I'm a Total Anglophile
What is it about those Brits that gets me in a tizzy? Their cheeky accents? That saucy slang? I honestly have no clue but the entire aspect of British culture fascinates me. I am an admitted William and Kate follower, avid Top Shop Customer, and frequently speak with a "British" accent with my girl friends while having marathon Harry Potter Movie Sessions. The elegance, the mystery, the history? Whatever the allure is I can't get enough! Anyone else feel the same? I'd love to hear your comments!
Five Books to Read by the Pool This Summer
1. The Harry Potter Series: Yup I'll admit it I'm a Potterhead! The idea of this entire other world is completely mind blowing to me and I love the escape it brings. J.K Rowling is an amazing author whose characters and story pull you in immediately. My personal favorite? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, the seventh book in the series. However I suggest you read the first six books first.
2. The Time Travelers Wife: Another story set in a sort of alternate universe...yup gotta love that escape. This novel by Audrey Niffenegger engulfs you in the story of star crossed lovers Clare and Henry. Separated by time and Space this heart wrenching love story will keep you begging for more.
3. The Hunger Games Trilogy: A three part series set in a post-apocalyptic world (sensing a pattern here?) where members of the various districts are forced to participate in the "hunger games" in order to atone for past rebellions. This book will suck you in I read all three books in a weeks time. It's full of action and adventure but what I loved most was the Romance between Peta and Katniss (I'm a sucker for a good romance).
4. Water for Elephants: Recently made into a movie starring Robert Pattionson (reason enough to see it), Water For Elephants is easily one of the best books I've read all year and easily makes my top ten greatest romances list. Sara Gruen’s story follows a Depression-era circus and the struggles its characters while trying to survive in the harsh world of show business.
5. Anything by Jodi Picoult: Picoult is Easily one of my Favorite authors. Her stories tug on your heart strings weather for the romance or the heartache. Picoult has the amazing ability to create inspirational, entirely real characters, although as a warning I usually end one of her books with a good cry...
Season Finale of The Greatest Show of Our Time
So is it okay to be just a little bit obsessed with the greatest show of our time? Eh whatever I'll get over it.The entire season finale was a big let down and seemed to me like more of a series finale with all the tying up of loose ends and the bevy of this is your life moments (ie: Regina). But I can't say that I'm still not slightly obsessed. The whole pregnancy cliff hanger at the end of the episode is plenty to keep me watching next season. Whose baby is it though? I'm a total Chair fan so I'm crossing my fingers. Comments...thoughts...
